Massachusetts town faces questions after rainbow crosswalks are restriped black and white

Swampscott, Massachusetts officials restriped two Pride rainbow crosswalks in black and white, saying it was regularly scheduled maintenance that did not signal a change in the town's support for LGBTQ+ residents. Residents including Melissa Weinand and Katie Murphy Arrington disputed that explanation, and officials later said they are reviewing roadway marking policies and invited residents to an October 21 Select Board meeting.
