The 2026 Out100: Fort Lauderdale Mayor Dean J. Trantalis

Fort Lauderdale Mayor Dean J. Trantalis is named in the 2026 Out100 for decades of LGBTQ+ advocacy, including helping pass a 1995 ordinance barring discrimination based on sexual orientation and advancing a 1999 Broward County domestic partnership law. A lawyer in Broward County since 1982, he received a lifetime achievement award from the Harvey Milk Foundation in 2018. He says his public service began almost five decades ago in the fight for LGBTQ+ rights.
