How Can Queer Artists Survive in NYC? A New Incubator Looks to Warhol's Factory for Inspiration
Joseph Frederick Allen cofounded The FRAME, a new New York City arts incubator inspired by Andy Warhol's Factory, to give queer artists funding, studio space and community. Operating out of BroadwayVox Studios in Midtown Manhattan, its first cohort of 10 artists includes director Nic Cory, visual artist Drew Elhamalawy and filmmaker Brent Thomas Whiteside, with support from Sara Ramirez and Thomas Schumacher. The cohort's first public project is a performance of Allen's play Jackson's Island: Huck, Tom, Queers and Us.
